McDonald Lake is not far at all from Iron Mountain. You'll need more than a day to discover everything McDonald Lake has to offer, you can camp at Amberg Campgrounds and Bar. This lake is so wonderful. McDonald Lake is a pleasant place to visit for more than one day, Tranquil Vista Campgrounds is a pleasant place to camp nearby, and you're most likely into lakes, Camp Lake is one of those close by. Norway Mountain is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood,

| | and if you need a place to stay Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Iron Mountain, MI is a tremendous choice. High temperatures at McDonald Lake throughout the long summer days are in the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's with temperatures at McDonald Lake dipping down into the-10's during winter nights.

Paddling on Pike River - South Branch is so much fun, and a magnificent close by hotel is Americas Best Inns-Iron Mountain. Pike River - North Branch has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby. Cole Creek is in the neighborhood of
McDonald Lake and is always a joy to take a look at. Lakes are fine; Merriman Lake is a lake that's close to McDonald Lake.
McDonald Lake is a good site of common rainfall; September is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is February.
