Throughout the summer months at McCaslin Lake highs are commonly in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 20's with temperatures at McCaslin Lake dipping down into the-10's during winter nights. You could also visit Three Little Lakes while you're here at McCaslin Lake; it's close by, and paddling on Peshtigo River is so much fun.       Whitewater paddling is great on Rat River. If you need a location to stay Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Iron Mountain, MI is a wonderful choice, and McCaslin Mountain is delightful and can be spotted from here. After a long day outdoors Best Western Lakewood Lodge is a good place to spend a night or two, and hiking is a popular thing to do around McCaslin Lake; Dendro Eco Trail is a nice local trail. McCaslin Lake is a good place of normal rainfall;                  September is the wettest month with most rain while February is generally the driest month. If only every place had this much outdoors entertaining things, what a great world it would be. Mc Caslin Mountain Campground is a magnificent campground nearby, and why not take a little journey to Smith Creek since you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Mountain Jeds Campgrounds, and almost certainly you're looking for nearby lakes?
