The amount of rainfall that falls at Mason Lake is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month of the year is February. All the outdoors fun stuff near Mason Lake will keep you coming back again and again. In case you don’t mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Baraboo River, and after a long day outdoors Portage Super 8 Motel is a pleasant       place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is splendid on Skillet Creek, and you can go for a hike on the Grottos Trail. Very scenic scenery and tremendous skiing is what you get at Devils Head, and Mason Lake is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Wagon wheel Campground is a splendid local campground. Near Mason Lake you come across the East Bluff Woods Trail which is a glorious hiking trail, and you'll hit upon                  a pretty lake called Mason Lake 37. This lake is so wonderful. A good nearby hotel is Best Western Resort Hotel & Conference Center, and a magnificent site to camp here at Mason Lake is Lake Mason Campground. Through the summer at Mason Lake temperatures are commonly in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Mason Lake. Taking a little tour to close by Morris Cove is a great idea, and since you're here, you could also go to beautiful Little Lake. Going for a hike on the East Bluff Trail is always a wonderful adventure, and hey, Gotta ski right?
