Lake Kaunewinne is a nearby lake that you could go to, and get your heart beating on the perfect whitewater of Yellow River. You'll meet a lot of folks from Wisconsin Rapids-Marshfield here, and a fine site to camp here at Manakiki Lake 135 is Country-aire Campground. The annual precipitation here at Manakiki Lake  
   135 is about average; the wettest month of the year is frequently September, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is February.
This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water nearby, Puff Creek is a stream you can explore during your stay, and if you need a site to stay Park Motel is a glorious choice. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Manakiki Lake 135. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. Through
 
               the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's; during the dark hours in the winter at Manakiki Lake 135 temperatures sink to the 0's. Some friends and I went Kayaking on the Yellow River on April 19th, 08 and were suprised at the stage of rapids that we paddled. The water is fast, deep and unforgiving. Be careful!!! Make sure you wear helmets, take tow ropes and be prepared to get wet!!!...

...obably half filled. The grounds were shady with nice grassy sites with water and electricity on all the sites. Bathrooms were kept clean with the exception of leaking water from the showers which flooded the floors. There were two sets of toilets and showers, one set was at the main building that housed a bar (which served great fish fries and has its own micro-brewery), game room, and office. The upper bath site had no hot water all weekend. It has a separate bathroom with shower for females, and apparently for males too, but it appeared to be nailed shut. They also have a swimming pool, but it was too early in the season to be cleaned and open.

Detractors seemed to be a lack of enforcing the quiet hours. Parties with music blaring, singing and yelling went on until 3 a. M. Some noise was from the weedend campers next to us, and some noise was from the permanent site owners, which also included blowing on a plastic trumpet, not only during the day, but into the night. Dogs were left barking alone on the site next to us while the owners were at the bar or at the lake. No one w...
