     Eau Claire River is a nice whitewater spot in the vicinity of Lost Lake, and a delightful site to camp here at Lost Lake is Brookside Village. Now, you may think that's plenty but there's even more fun stuff to do here at Lost Lake. You'll meet a lot of people from Stevens Point here. At Lost Lake throughout the summertime highs are in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's with winter lows  
   in the-10's overnight here at Lost Lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay AmericInn Weston is a pleasant choice, and Lost Lake is not the only spot nearby, Rice Lake is a nearby lake.
Camping at Mayflower Lake Campgrounds is always a glorious experience, and let's not forget Rice Lake Creek which is a stream that you may bump into while here. The annual rain here at Lost Lake is about average; the wettest month of the year is usually
 
               September, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is February. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites WAUSAU is a nice site to spend a night or two; if you've had enough of Lost Lake, Muddy Lake is nearby.

This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane....

For the Midwest only Lutsen in Minn. can be compared!
The vertical keeps you challenged unlike the resorts in the U.P. and the rest of the Midwest! Only 3 hrs from Milwaukee!!!
love it if you are in the Midwest and can't head WEST!!!...
