Baraboo River flows through this region. This lake is so wonderful. There are wonderful spots to discover along the East Bluff Trail. Lakes are great; Long Lake is a lake that's near Long Lake. The annual precipitation here at Long Lake is about average; through August this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. A brilliant nearby hotel is Comfort       Suites Portage, and Long Lake is not far at all from Madison. What would winter be without some skiing at Devils Head; if you need a place to stay Portage Super 8 Motel is a tremendous choice. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing things close to Long Lake. Gotta ski! Cascade Mountain is a great site to do that, and if you're a golfer then a good nearby course is THAL Acres Golf Course. Near Long Lake you come across the East Bluff Woods Trail which is                  a brilliant hiking trail; you can stay the night at Pride Of America Lake George. This lake is so wonderful. A day at wonderful Silver Lake Beach close to Long Lake is a wonderful thing to do. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Long Lake has to offer, you can camp at Pride of America Campground. Going for a hike on the Grottos Trail is always a great adventure; not far from Long Lake you'll come across Mud Lake which is a striking lake. At Long Lake during the days of summer highs are in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's.
