     The beauty of Lake Kaunewinne attracts many people from all around. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. If you came for an overnight stay Campground Number One is a splendid place to camp. Some close by water includes Puff Creek, and a lake close by is Lake Manakiki. Clearwaters Hotel and Convention Center is a good spot to get some rest; camping is available at Country-aire Campground.
This lake is so wonderful. Lake Kaunewinne is not the only place nearby,
 
   Manakiki Lake 135 is a nearby lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Yellow River offers some great whitewater. The nice folks of Wisconsin Rapids-Marshfield like to hang out nearby, and after a long day outdoors Park Motel is a delightful place to spend a night or two. From a rain point of view Lake Kaunewinne is a rather common location; September is the wettest month with most rain while February is typically the driest month.

               time of the year highs here at Lake Kaunewinne reach the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. Highs during the winter are frequently in the 20's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Lake Kaunewinne temperatures sink to the 0's.

Detractors seemed to be a lack of enforcing the quiet hours. Parties with music blaring, singing and yelling went on until 3 a. M. Some noise was from the weedend campers next to us, and some noise was from the permanent site owners, which also included blowing on a plastic trumpet, not only during the day, but into the night. Dogs were left barking alone on the site next to us while the owners were at the bar or at the lake. No one was in the office in regular hours, making it impossible to replenish the ice in our coolers until the next day. Office was closed at six pm and was still not open at 10 the next. Person I talked to in the building said because of the economy he'd had to let a lot of the help go. Unfortunately, this is a big negative for us, since it made our stay somewhat uncomfortable, with the noise, lack of hot water, and not being able to get ice.
