If you are in Florence county it's always a good idea to stop by Kieper Lake. Don't leave Kieper Lake without first going for a hike along the Dendro Eco Trail, and Dorothy Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at. Kieper Lake gets a typical amount of yearly precipitation; the wettest month of the year is generally August, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. The snow is brilliant at Brule Mountain.

Perch Lake Campground is a glorious campground nearby; in the event that you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Pine River. High temperatures at Kieper Lake throughout the warm months are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are usually in the 10's, and nighttime lows in the-10's | |

for Kieper Lake. Head up to Ski Brule and strap some skis to your feet, and you can stay the night at Lauterman Lake Walk-In Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Americinn - Iron River, Mi, and there
are magnificent places to look at along the Lauterman Trail. While you're here at Kieper Lake, you could also stop by delightful Savage Lake, and unsurprisingly Kieper Creek flows through this neighborhood. At Kieper Lake you always meet someone from Iron Mountain, and Pine River has a nice whitewater paddling spot close by.

The highlight of Paint River Hills Campground is its hiking trail along the Paint River. The loop trail, about half-mile long, winds through and around the rock bluffs and hills that form the banks of the Paint River and for years has been the playground of local youngsters. The name “Paint River Hills” is the term used by locals to describe the location of the campground. Youngsters have named other areas such as Peeper Hollow, Big Rock Candy Mountain, White Pine Lookout, Fairy Tale Swamp, Rock Fort, Thistle Swamp and Camel Back Lookout.
As the trail leads you to several lookouts down the river identification signs greet you naming trees in native Ojibwa as well as Latin and English.
