  The Thayer Road to FS Road 178 portion is a good 9.7-mile-from-beginning-to-end category I-II(IV) run of whitewater on Ontonagon River. This portion of Ontonagon River is recommended for raft paddlers of medium know-how. Naturally, paddling is amusing but dangerous; check current conditions previous to going. Lake Gogebic State Park is a wonderful location to explore on a beautiful day. Take the kids on some cool rides at nearby Lynnee & Tamela's Clowning, and
    if you've had enough of Jones Lake, Cisco Lake is nearby. Play some mini golf at Island Golf near Jones Lake; getting to Ontonagon River from Jones Lake is painless.
