The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Christmas Mountain; Johnson Ponds is a delightful place to visit for more than one day, Double K-d Ranch Campground is a delightful place to camp nearby. If you come at the right time of year, Baraboo River offers some splendid whitewater, and Clarion Hotel Baraboo is a pleasant site to get some rest. Johnson Ponds is close to Linen Mill Dam which is a scenic       place without doubt worth a visit, and hiking along the East Bluff Woods Trail is pleasant fun. Whohoo, so many amusing things in one place! Johnson Ponds rules! Lakes are such peaceful sites, why not take a look at Devils Lake right next door to Johnson Ponds, and dry warm beds await you at Best Western Baraboo Inn. And if you're still looking for more outdoors entertaining things just keep reading. East Bluff is an interesting thing to catch a sight of                  if you're here at Johnson Ponds. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Johnson Ponds has to offer, you can camp at Devil's Lake State Park. East Bluff Basin is a pleasant location to check out, and Baraboo Country Club is a wonderful golf course close by. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Skillet Creek, and folks from Baraboo love to come here. There are other sites here than Johnson Ponds, for example 583 Reservoir, and going for a hike along the Grottos Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. Throughout the summertime months, highs mostly are in the 80's at Johnson Ponds. Summer night lows descend down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's, and night lows through the winter for Johnson Ponds tend to be in the 0's. Nearby Griegol Gulch is a perfect place to go if you're at Johnson Ponds. This lake is so wonderful. Devils Head is a very popular ski area close by, and since you're here you can take a hike along the East Bluff Trail.
