Island Lake gets a normal amount of yearly rain; August is when you get the most rain here, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. There are some fine whitewater spots on Flambeau River - South Fork, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Newman Springs Ski Trail. So much exciting stuff to do at Island Lake, so little time. If       you need a spot to stay Days Inn Hurley is a good choice, and Vincent Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by. For the duration of the days of summer highs here at Island Lake get into the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Island Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Park Falls. Island Creek is one of the streams                  close by that might be worth stopping at, and Smith River Campground is a great local campground.
