Going for a hike along the North Country Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and Marengo River has a delightful whitewater paddling spot close by. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Holmes Lake has to offer, you can camp at Boulder Lodge Resort. This lake is so wonderful. If you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Chippewa River - West Fork, and       Holmes Lake is a good location to visit for more than one day, Lake Namakagon Campgrounds is a good location to camp nearby. The yearly precipitation here at Holmes Lake is about average; August is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is February. While you're here at Holmes Lake you can take a hike along the Virgin Pine Trail. Lakes? Sure, Stearns Lake is close at hand. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining                  stuff at Holmes Lake. Have a delightful hiking adventure along the Rock Lake National Recreation Trail; if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Lakewoods Resort & Golf Forest Ridges Golf Course is nearby. Summertime highs at Holmes Lake usually tend to be in the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Holmes Lake are in the-10's.
