The Bearskin State Park Trail offers hiking at its best, and why not camp at Northforest Campgrounds if you're here at High Lake. Yep, outdoors enjoyable stuff to do are really bountiful here at High Lake. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Prairie River. | | down it plunges down to the 50's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 10's; nighttime lows in the-10's for High Lake. Gotta ski! Granite Peak is a great spot to do that, and this vicinity is dominated by the Harrison Hills.

is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Rodeway Inn & Suites, and there are some delightful whitewater spots on Wisconsin River.
If
you need a place to stay Americas Best Value Inn / Rhinelander is a great choice, and you're in all probability into lakes, Bruce Lake is one of those close by. This lake is so wonderful. Birkensee Resort is a delightful local campground.

This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane....
