Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore nearby Spinnet Lake, and if the weather is magnificent, you can go for a hike along the Rainbow Falls Trail. If you want a glorious time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Hewitt Lake. Black River has a delightful whitewater paddling spot nearby, and not far from Hewitt Lake you'll locate Cranberry Lake       which is a gorgeous lake. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Gogebic Range, not sufficient time. Paddling on Turtle River is so much fun, and everybody nearby loves skiing at Big Powderhorn Mountain. This lake is one of the great places here in the Gogebic Range. The amount of rainfall that falls at Hewitt Lake is close to the national average; during June this area sees the most rain; February is when it's the driest.
