If you came for an overnight stay Thornapple River Campground is a glorious location to camp. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Hardwood Trail, and if you need a place to stay Americinn Lodge Ladysmith is a wonderful choice. If you come at the right time of year, Chippewa River offers some magnificent whitewater, and there is a wonderful hiking trail close by called the Tuscobia Park Falls State Trail.       Hess Lake beyond doubt is in the middle of a picturesque outdoors paradise. Kenyon Creek is a glorious site to take a look at, and going for a hike on the Serley Camp Trail is always a good adventure. Camping is available at Windfall Lake Camping, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Chippewa River - West Fork. Head up to Christie Mountain and strap some skis to your feet; Americinn - Ladysmith, Wi is a fine site                  to get some rest. Summertime highs at Hess Lake usually tend to be in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 10's with temperatures at Hess Lake dipping down into the-10's through winter nights.
