South Lakes is in close proximity, and a wonderful place for whitewater paddling is Chippewa River - West Fork. A good nearby hotel is Americinn Lodge Ladysmith, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Christie Mountain is quite near. Hess Lake gets a normal amount of annual rain; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.       For the duration of the summer highs here at Hess Lake reach the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. All through the wintertime highs are commonly in the 10's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Hess Lake. Get your heart beating on the brilliant whitewater of Chippewa River, and camping is available at Thornapple River Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Hardwood Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this                  region. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Hess Lake. Americinn - Ladysmith, Wi is a brilliant place to get some rest, and why not a little side journey to Kenyon Creek. Take a hike on the Tuscobia Park Falls State Trail, and Hess Lake is not the only place nearby, White Birch Lake is a nearby lake. This lake is so wonderful.
