There's so much to do here at Lake Harriett that you need to camp here for a while, New Glarus Woods State Park is a magnificent spot for that, and Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a very pleasant location to stop at. You're sure to bump into some nice people                  from Madison here. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Lake Harriett has to offer, you can camp at Lake Kegonsa State Park. At Lake Harriett during the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 60's.
