Hiking along the Lauterman Trail is tremendous fun; there's whitewater on Pine River for all you adrenaline junkies. This lake is so wonderful. Gotta ski! Ski Brule is a splendid location to do that, and Americinn - Iron River, Mi is a wonderful site to get some rest. Grub Hoe Lake gets a typical amount of annual rain; through the month of August you get the most rain around here while February is regularly the driest month. Through the long summer days at

| | Grub Hoe Lake highs are usually in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 20's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Grub Hoe Lake temperatures dip to the 0's.

...ritage. The original emigrant settlers of the area during the middle 1800’s were attracted to its virgin forests and the rich mineral content of the ground. That untouched beauty remains only in a few unique areas left over from bygone days. Paint River Hills is truly one of those areas.
The highlight of Paint River Hills Campground is its hiking trail along the Paint River. The loop trail, about half-mile long, winds through and around the rock bluffs and hills that form the banks of the Paint River and for years has been the playground of local youngsters. The name “Paint River Hills” is the term used by locals to describe the location of the campground. Youngsters have named other areas such as Peeper Hollow, Big Rock Candy Mountain, White Pine Lookout, Fairy Tale Swamp, Rock Fort, Thistle Swamp and Camel Back Lookout.
