The Rock Lake National Recreation Trail offers hiking at its best, and Marengo River has a nice whitewater paddling spot close by. During the warm months at Frels Lake highs are regularly in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 10's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Frels Lake.       This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the North Country Trail, and in the event that you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Chippewa River - West Fork. A good nearby hotel is Comfort Suites Hayward; a round of golf at nearby Lakewoods Resort & Golf Forest Ridges Golf Course is a nice way to kill some time. A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Frels Lake; the month of August is the                  wettest with most of the rain, and February is when it's the driest. So much fun stuff to do here at Frels Lake, too magnificent to be true. There's so much to do here at Frels Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Boulder Lodge Resort is a tremendous location for that, and if you've had enough of Frels Lake, Hildebrand Lake is nearby. You could also have a look at Birch Lake while you're here at Frels Lake; it's close by.
