Paddling on St. Croix River is so much fun, and Wild Mountain is a glorious local ski area. Fountain Lake is a nice place to camp, Birchwood Beach Campgrounds is a nice place, and playing golf is lots of fun at Frederic Golf Course. From a rain point of view Fountain Lake is a rather common spot; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain; February is when it's the driest.       This lake is so wonderful. Bohn Dam is worth a visit since you're here; don't leave Fountain Lake without first going for a hike along the Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary State Trail. If only every location had this much outdoors exciting things, what a great globe it would be. All our national parks are great places to have a look at, and Saint Croix National Scenic River is no exception, and if you need a location to stay Best Western Northwoods Lodge is a glorious                  choice. This lake is so wonderful. Glide down the rapids of Lower Tamarack River in a kayak; Fountain Lake is not the only location nearby, Aspen Lake is a nearby lake. The slopes of Trollhaugen are so inviting noone can resist, and dry warm beds await you at Luck Country Inn. There's nice hiking along the Markville Snowmobile Trail; you can stay the night at Pine Grove Resort. During the warmest time of the year here at Fountain Lake, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's.
