Why not camp at Birchwood Beach Campgrounds if you're here at Fountain Lake; there are splendid places to explore along the Markville Snowmobile Trail. Man, is there lots of exciting stuff to do in close proximity to Fountain Lake. In case you don’t mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Lower Tamarack River; Best Western Northwoods Lodge is a great place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful.       The skiing at Trollhaugen is splendid, and a lake close by is Aspen Lake. Whitewater paddling is fine on St. Croix River; going for a hike on the Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary State Trail is always a good adventure. A journey to Saint Croix National Scenic River is worthwhile, and do stop by Bohn Dam while you're here. The amount of precipitation that falls at Fountain Lake is close to the national average; of all the months in a year June is the one with the                  most rain, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. A day on the slopes of Wild Mountain is just what you need, and if you need a place to stay Luck Country Inn is a great choice. For the duration of the summertime, highs regularly are in the 80's at Fountain Lake. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's; overnight lows in the-10's for Fountain Lake.
