If the weather is brilliant here at Founder Lake, you can go for a hike along the Popple Ridge Snowmobile Trail. There's so much to do here at Founder Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Oconto County Park Campground is a great spot for that. For the duration of the warm months at Founder Lake highs are generally in the 70's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and through the dark

| | hours in the winter at Founder Lake temperatures dip to the 0's. Founder Lake is not the only location close by, Weso Lake is a close by lake, and you can stay the night at Bagley Rapids Campground. Going for a hike along the Popple Ridge Snowmobile Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, of course you could also explore Turtle Lake while you're here; it's not far at all.

can always go whitewater paddling on Oconto River - North Branch, and do stop at Founder Creek since you're here at Founder Lake. From a precipitation point of view Founder Lake is a rather normal location; September is when you get
the most rain here; February is when it's the driest.
But wait, there's more to do near Founder Lake. A splendid close by hotel is Kiryat Hotel, and after a long day outdoors Settle Inn and Suites Shawano is a delightful site to spend a night or two.

Boulder Lake Lodge
 | Boulder Lake Lodge Resort is 80 acres located in the Nicolet National Forest on spring fed Boulder Lake. The national forest forms the property line to the north and Boulder Lake is the property line on the south. We have every outdoor sport you can think of from motorized water sports to snowmobiling. There is fishing, hiking, snowshoeing and hunting in the adjecent national forest. At the end of the days activity or just for a mid-afternoon drink, you can stop by for a cold one and some good conversation at the Lodge. The Lodge is a central gathering point with a full liquor licence. Our RV sites are being upgraded all the time. We installed a new dump station in 2005. There are 20 sites with electric only. | I went rafting there two days ago and I had SO much fun! One rapid, called lower Dells, has cliffs on both sides and we jumped of them. If you jump make sure to jump far out (I hit my knee on a rock) and face toward the light green trees when you are jumping from the right side (when you are facing the rapids) Also, it is fun to swim Dave's Wave which is the second half of the lower Duck's Nest. Make sure to go down Big Smokey! And then pull your raft to the side of the river and go under the waterfall!! So much fun! The only bad thing was the water level was low... so we got pretty scraped up on the rocks.... |
