Bearskull Lake is a great lake right next door to Ferry Lake, and if you need a place to stay Americinn - Minocqua, Wi is       a fine choice. This lake is so wonderful. Getting to Thompson Creek from Ferry Lake is trouble-free; camping at Fishtrap Campground is always a good experience. Flambeau River - South Fork is a fine whitewater spot near Ferry Lake, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Newman Springs Ski Trail.
