Camping is available at Pine View Recreation Area; after a long day outdoors Best Western Sparta Trail Lodge is a great spot to spend a night or two. This is no site for people who don’t like to have fun. If you crave a little side visit, try Raymore Pass, and dry warm beds await you at Three Bears Lodge and Villas. | | the only spot close by, Big Sandy Lake is a close by lake, and the top of Coles Peak is easily seen from East Silver Lake. This lake is so wonderful. You could also pop by Flora Dell Lake while you're here at East Silver Lake; it's nearby; if you're here at East Silver Lake, checking out Bald Bluff is a must.  | 16 miles away One should ask what has been the savings from the protection over the years which Jersey Lake provided in flood protection alone, not to mention the aesthetic benefits of fish and wildlife to the visitors. Future recreational development such as trails for mt. Bicycling and hiking during the warm seasons and the use of trails for winter recreation should be estimated and commented on. There are other similar lakes in the region which could be used as models of the numerous cost effectiveness and aesthetic benefits.... |
Robinson Creek
 | 17 miles away 1 PHOTO Nice place. Peaceful and relaxing.... ...recommended at Fall-Hall Road. If you'd like to see the F-H Glen, it is a 200yard paddle downstream around a bend to the glen. Secure permission to use the F-H Camp trails if you don't want to drag you boat back upstream. If you want to paddle Robinson Creek, a better put in is at the Old County Road I on the North side where there is a State Forest campsite near the ATV trails (permit req'd to camp)on the north side of the bridge. Along the way are several class I (II) riffles and a millpond dam with designated portage on the right. At Kelly Road, Portage to the right of the dam to avoid a sharp drop on the downstream side of the bridge. The rest of the trip includes some class II (III) runs with several unmarked falls of 4-7' which should be portaged. There were a couple of places to play in and, if waterflow was above average, runs that would challenge an intermediate paddler. My 13 yo son and I paddled and dragged our way to the Black River.
