     You could also check out Schwartz Lake if you're here at Dunes Lake; it's nearby, and Lilly Bay is not far at all. Through the summertime months at Dunes Lake highs are typically in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 20's with temperatures at Dunes Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. So many enjoyable things in the vicinity of Dunes Lake, truly incredible. Good hiking is available  
   along the Ahnapee State Trail, and a good nearby hotel is Cherry Hills Lodge. A lake nearby is Mud Lake, and Dunes Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Harbour Village is a magnificent local campground.
Golf can be played at 27 Pines Golf Course, and if you need a location to stay Snug Harbor Inn is a fine choice. This lake is so wonderful. Take a side journey to Donlans Creek, and camping at Door County Camping Retreat is always a fine
 
               experience.

A really great weekend trip is to pack up the bikes for a camping trip and bike from Casco to Potowotami State Park. Don’t bother buying food to carry; you get to buy it at the end of the ride!

Maybe have breakfast to start the trip in Luxemburg or Casco to start the trip off right and to help the local economy (Casco has a population of 560 people).

Bicycle the trail to Algoma and spend a couple of hours noodling around the maritime village, dip your feet in Lake Michigan, and have lunch at one of the local and affordable Algoma restaurants.

Note that there are several apple trees along the way. Unlike today’s apples which are mostly highbred grafts, these heritage breed apples are trees started from the railmen throwing their apple cores out the windows of the train. In the fall, the apples are ripe, plentiful, free, and very flavorful. Pick some up to make a cobbler at camp that evening.

Finally, you pass through Sturgeon Bay on the way to Potowatomi State Park. Buy your food for the evening at one of the locally owned groceries. Then...
