Beautiful Dorothy Lake has much to offer visitors. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Dorothy Lake has to offer, you can camp at Perch Lake Campground, and some of the water nearby flows, like Haley Creek. This lake is so wonderful. There are some splendid whitewater spots on Pine River, and Haley Lake is a nearby lake that you could have a look at. Any time is a good time at Dorothy Lake if you go for the outdoors. This lake is so wonderful. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Brule Mountain while you're here. An average amount of rain falls at Dorothy Lake; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain; February on the other hand is the driest. There's so much to do here at Dorothy Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Lauterman Lake Walk-In Campground is a magnificent place for that; since you're here you can take
a hike along the Dendro Eco Trail. Very delightful scenery and glorious skiing is what you get at Ski Brule, and you're sure to run into some good folks from Iron Mountain here. Summertime highs at Dorothy Lake ordinarily tend to
be in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are mostly in the 10's while Dorothy Lake nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the-10's.

The highlight of Paint River Hills Campground is its hiking trail along the Paint River. The loop trail, about half-mile long, winds through and around the rock bluffs and hills that form the banks of the Paint River and for years has been the playground of local youngsters. The name “Paint River Hills” is the term used by locals to describe the location of the campground. Youngsters have named other areas such as Peeper Hollow, Big Rock Candy Mountain, White Pine Lookout, Fairy Tale Swamp, Rock Fort, Thistle Swamp and Camel Back Lookout.
As the trail leads you to several lookouts down the river identification signs greet you naming trees in native Ojibwa as well as Latin and English. You will wind through an old white cedar stand and see rare quartz rock outcroppings. You will have an opportunity to see abundant wildlife, which considers this area along the Paint River its sanctuary, and hear the sound of the Paint River as it winds its way downstream to Horse... |
