Do stop by Woodtick Lake close to Dead Horse Slough, it's a gorgeous lake; don't forget to take a delightful little spree to Dingdong Creek. - East Fork. Go for a hike on the Rock Lake National Recreation Trail. There's so much to do here at Dead Horse Slough that you need to camp here for a while, Black Lake Campground is a great place for that.
There's no way somebody
can get bored here in the Gogebic Range. Near Dead Horse Slough you hit upon the Great Divide Snowmobile Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. Cranberry Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore,
and drift down the rapids of Brunsweiler River in a kayak. The amount of precipitation that falls at Dead Horse Slough is close to the national average; August is the month that gets the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
