Springville Dam has fine water scenery and it's next to Lake Clar-Re, and if you came for an overnight stay Vista Royalle Campground Ltd is a nice site to camp. Looking for some flowing water? Try Little Plover River; you'll possibly meet some folks from Stevens Point here. | |

Realizing not everyone is willing to try skiing or snowboarding, Nordic Mountain installed the StoneRidge Tubing Park in 2006. The tubing park is over 1500ft long with over 90ft of vertical drop. If has five chutes and numerous ''rollers'' that add lots of thrills for the riders approaching speeds of up to 40mph. The best part is tubers don't have to walk back to the top of the hill. There is a specially designed lift that tows riders back to the top of the hill while sitting in their tubes. With the addition of the park, Nordic Mountain has opened up winter recreation to everyone.
In addition to the tubing park, Nordic Mountain continues to undergo many changes and improvements-one of the biggest in snowmaking.
Nordic Mountain can make snow on 100% of its terrain including the tubing park. With the improvements in snowmaking technology, they can produce higher quality snow and do so in warmer temperatures. This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane....
