Charles Lake is a nice lake to visit. After a long day outdoors Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Iron Mountain, MI is a good site to spend a night or two, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Spring Rapids. Whitewater paddling is pleasant on Thunder River; why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Desmidt's Golf Course & Country Club.
