Totogatic River
15 miles away
Water levels must be high to do the Upper Totogatic. Otherwise you'll be dragging your canoe over rocks. But it's very wild and remote. There are also old copper mines along the river if you know where to look. Also beware that the area was sacred to the spirit Wanabuju! http://www.atthecreation.com/TOGATIG/TOGA.html...

Namekagon River
19 miles away
This river has nearly 70 miles of river that can be paddled. It goes all the way from the Hayward landing to the Riverside landing after it joins the St Croix River. This river could easily be made into a 3-4 night paddle. It has quite a few canoe campsites and also access to freshwater at several landings.
