Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out close by Frels Lake, and close by you hit upon the North Country Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. So much enjoyable stuff in close proximity to Birch Lake, simply tremendous. Birch Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Lake Namakagon Campgrounds is a delightful local campground; whitewater paddling is       not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Chippewa River - West Fork. Lakes? Sure, Hildebrand Lake is around here, and going for a hike on the Virgin Pine Trail is always a great adventure. A pleasant site to camp here at Birch Lake is Boulder Lodge Resort; there is a fine hiking trail nearby called the Rock Lake National Recreation Trail. Birch Lake gets a normal amount of annual rain; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest                  of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart pumping on the tremendous whitewater of Marengo River; a round of golf at nearby Lakewoods Resort & Golf Forest Ridges Golf Course is a great way to kill some time. At Birch Lake through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Birch Lake are in the-10's.
