A magnificent close by hotel is Wild Eagle Lodge, and whitewater paddling is splendid on Ontonagon River - Middle Branch. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff at Big Sand Lake. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Ski Brule, and why not camp at Spectacle Lake Campground while you're here       at Big Sand Lake. There's pleasant hiking along the Anvil Lake Trail System, and Big Sand Lake Golf Course is a golf course nearby. This lake is so wonderful. The Kimball Creek Trail offers hiking at its best, and if you've had enough of Big Sand Lake, Plymouth Lake is close by. From a precipitation point of view Big Sand Lake is a quite common spot; most of the rain falls all through August while February is mostly the driest month. This lake is so                  wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Kentuck-Spectacle Lake Trail; do check out Thoroughfare Creek since you're here at Big Sand Lake. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Big Sand Lake, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs during the winter are usually in the 10's; nighttime lows throughout the winter for Big Sand Lake tend to be in the 0's.
