A wonderful place for whitewater paddling in the neighborhood of Big Portage Lake is Ontonagon River - Middle Branch; a scenic lake like Chamberlain Lake is a magnificent place to have a look at. Summer       at Big Portage Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 10's, and night lows in the-10's for Big Portage Lake. There's so much to do here at Big Portage Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Frank's Campground is a splendid location for that. This lake is so wonderful. Some close by water includes Pickerel Creek; don't leave Big Portage Lake without                  first paying a visit to Portage Spring. Wild Eagle Lodge is a magnificent location to get some rest; a round of golf at nearby Gateway Golf Club is a great way to kill some time. A great nearby hotel is Settle Inn & Stes Eagle River; you can run the rapids of Ontonagon River. This is no site for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves.
