Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Apple River, and if you've had enough of Big Lake, T Lake is nearby. This lake is so wonderful. This is no location for people who don’t like to have a good time. The skiing at Trollhaugen is good, and Luck Country Inn is       a great place to get some rest. High temperatures at Big Lake during the long summer days are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 10's while Big Lake nighttime low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the-10's. The amount of rainfall that falls at Big Lake is close to the national average; through June this area sees the most rain, and February                  is the month with the least moisture. Schillberg's Campgrounds is a tremendous local campground, of course you could also stop by Twin Lakes since you're here; it's not far at all. If you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites ST. CROIX VALLEY is a fine choice, and if you come at the right time of year, St. Croix River offers some great whitewater. This lake is so wonderful.
