If you come at the right time of year, Pike River - North Branch offers some great whitewater, and you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Iron Mountain here. Barnes Lake gets a typical amount of annual rain; September is the month that gets the most rain, and February       is when it's the driest. Man, is there a load of fun stuff to do near Barnes Lake. Barnes Lake is not the only site close by, Camp Lake is a close by lake, and a nice spot to camp here at Barnes Lake is Amberg Campgrounds and Bar. The skiing at Norway Mountain is great, and if you need a spot to stay Mountain Host Motor Inn is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Pike River                  - South Branch, and camping at Tranquil Vista Campgrounds is always a good experience. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Barnes Lake. During the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's.
