Going for a hike along the Hardwood Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and a great nearby hotel is Microtel Rice Lake. You are near Stouts Point since you're here at Balsam Lake, naturally you could also stop at Bass Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. This lake is so wonderful. Birch Lake Dam is a stunning site in close proximity to Balsam Lake, and       if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Serley Camp Trail. High temperatures at Balsam Lake through the warm days of summer are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Balsam Lake plunge into the-10's. Yeah, come here to Balsam Lake for a glorious time. Namekagon River is a delightful whitewater spot next                  to Balsam Lake; Balsam Lake is a perfect site to camp, Leesome Pine Campgrounds is a perfect site. Camping at Balsam Lake is great fun, Dahle's Campground is a great local campground, and Rice Lake Super 8 Motel is a fine place to get some rest.
