There's splendid hiking along the Hardwood Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Days Inn Rice Lake. From a rain point of view Balsam Lake is a pretty typical place; the wettest month of the year is mostly August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful. Taking a little tour to nearby Stouts Point is a good idea, and if you came for an overnight stay Dahle's Campground is a glorious location

| | to camp. Now, you may imagine that's heaps but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Balsam Lake. Lakes? Sure, Sugarbush Lake is around here; camping is available at T.P. Resort and Campground. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Balsam Lake; Serley Camp Trail is a fine local trail, and after a long day outdoors Super 8 Rice Lake is a glorious place to spend a night or two. night lows are frequently in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Balsam Lake. There are some nice whitewater spots on Namekagon River. Not far from Balsam Lake, you'll stumble on Bass Lake which is a pretty lake, and Birch Lake Dam is an attention-grabbing thing to check out.
