There are some splendid whitewater spots on Upper Tamarack River, and after a long day outdoors Lodge at Crooked Lake is a magnificent spot to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend St. Croix River; close to Baker Lake you stumble on a golf course called Voyager Village Country Club & Bar. Life's too short       to enjoy all the amusing stuff right next door to Baker Lake. If you need a place to stay Best Western Northwoods Lodge is a fine choice; not far from Baker Lake you'll stumble on Pratt Lake which is a striking lake. Baker Lake is a good site of normal rain; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while February is usually the driest month. Summer at Baker Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and the overnight is a tad cooler of course,                  frequently in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 10's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Baker Lake sink into the-10's. If you came for an overnight stay Wagner's Port Sand Resort is a fine spot to camp, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Swamp Lake.
