Hiking along the Deer Fly Trail is magnificent fun; Axhandle Lake is not the only location nearby, Dark Lake is a nearby lake. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. If you need a site to stay Glen Loch Motel is a wonderful choice, and do take a hike on the Hickory Ridge Trail. Camping is available at Loon Lake Camp Grounds; why not take a refreshing hike       along the O'Neil Creek Flowage Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Kamp Sugarrbush Bar and Campgrnd is a delightful place to camp. Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Chetek, and get covered with water paddling on Duncan Creek. From a precipitation point of view Axhandle Lake is a relatively common spot; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful.                  Here at Axhandle Lake there are plenty of folks from Eau Claire, and good skiing awaits you at Christie Mountain. For the period of the summertime at Axhandle Lake highs are usually in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's.
