Near Armstrong Lake you hit upon the Virgin Pine Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail, and there are other places here than Armstrong Lake, for example Balsam Pond. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Armstrong Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Perch Lake Campground is a good spot for that, and going for a hike on the North Country Trail is always a brilliant adventure. Armstrong Lake gets       a normal amount of precipitation; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is February. If you came to camp Shewahmegon Boys Camp is a wonderful place to do that, and there is a good hiking trail close by called the Pigeon Lake Trail. High temperatures at Armstrong Lake through the summer months are in the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 10's;                  nighttime lows at Armstrong Lake throughout the wintertime commonly fall into the-10's.
