I have many memories if my dad and I fishing on all those lakes. It was truly a beautiful area to grow up in. Dawn Hupfer: The lake is spring fed and is connected to Horsehead lake via river and also to North Crab lake and Crab lake. Walleye, large mouth bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike and sunfish are native to this lake. The lake is 355 acres which host Bill's Island, a public campground that is accessable via boat/canoe. There is one state owned access to this lake on the north side. Many years ago, Armour Lake Resort had been built by my great, great uncle and then owned in the early 40's by my parents who are now both deceased. The resort has since been purchased as a private residence. As a child growing up we have some wonderful memories about this beautiful, spring fed lake. I miss it. The Gogebic Range scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Armour Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Birch Lake Resort and Campground is a fine location for that; Best Western Concord Inn is a tremendous location to get some rest. All through the summertime, highs regularly are in the 70's at Armour Lake with night lows in the 50's.       The winter brings highs down to the 10's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Armour Lake. From a rain point of view Armour Lake is a quite common place; most of the rain falls through August; February on the other hand is the driest. Armour Lake is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Presque Isle Campground is a splendid local campground, and since you're here, you could also have a look at pretty Horsehead Lake. You just must have                  a thing about Armour Lake. Get your heart beating on the wonderful whitewater of Planter Creek; there's whitewater on Presque Isle for all you adrenaline rush seekers. But wait, there's more exciting things to do in the Gogebic Range. There are pleasant spots to look at along the Alligator Eye Trail; North Crab Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit. Having a good time in the Gogebic Range is painless.
