    If you are in Lincoln county it's always a good idea to stop by Anderson Lake. An average amount of rain falls at Anderson Lake; most of the rain falls during September, and the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Pine River, and if you need a place to stay Pine Ridge Inn is a great choice.
Oak Lake is a nearby lake that you could pop by, and Anderson Lake is a good site to visit for more than one day,
 
   Council Grounds State Park is a good site to camp nearby. High temperatures at Anderson Lake during the summer are in the 70's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 10's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Anderson Lake temperatures drop to the-10's. The skiing at Granite Peak is perfect, and the wonderful people of Merrill like to hang out close by.

This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane....

For the Midwest only Lutsen in Minn. can be compared!
The vertical keeps you challenged unlike the resorts in the U.P. and the rest of the Midwest! Only 3 hrs from Milwaukee!!!
love it if you are in the Midwest and can't head WEST!!!...
