And if that's not sufficient there's loads more fun stuff to do in the Gogebic Range. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Turtle River, and American Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Big 6 RV Resort and Campground is a brilliant local campground. American Lake is a good site of typical precipitation; the wettest month of the year is typically June, that's the one that rains the most while February       is the month with the least amount of precipitation. I can't stop, cause I'm havin' a great time here at American Lake. Camping at Wabasso Lake Campground is always a good experience; splendid skiing awaits you at Big Powderhorn Mountain. Lakes are tremendous; Long Lake is a lake that's close to American Lake, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at close by Blackjack. This lake is one of the great places here in the Gogebic Range. Just can't get enough                  of the Gogebic Range. Virgin Creek flows through this vicinity; a magnificent nearby hotel is Americinn - Ironwood, Mi. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Ironwood is a great location to spend a night or two, and you can go for a hike on the Rainbow Falls Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by close by Clear Lake; there's whitewater on Black River for all you adrenaline people. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Newman Springs Ski Trail. During the days of summer highs here at American Lake reach the 70's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 50's.
