American Lake is located in the Gogebic Range. American Lake is a good location of common rain; the wettest month of the year is usually June, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is February. Lakes are such calm sites, why not stop by Bass Lake next to American Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Black River. This       lake is so wonderful. There are some magnificent whitewater spots on Turtle River; after a long day outdoors Bluffs Inn is a pleasant location to spend a night or two. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to American Lake. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at American Lake. Near American Lake you stumble on the Newman Springs Ski Trail which is a great hiking trail,                  and camping at Wabasso Lake Campground is always a brilliant experience. This site, the Gogebic Range, has so much outdoors enjoyable things. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Big Powderhorn Mountain, and if you need a place to stay Indianhead Motel is a tremendous choice. This lake is so wonderful. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Gogebic Range, not enough time. The Rainbow Falls Trail is a glorious hiking trail in the vicinity of American Lake, and the snow is good at Blackjack. If only every spot had this much outdoors entertaining stuff, what a great globe it would be.
