Don't you try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a nice time here at Altman Lake. Flambeau River - North Fork is a wonderful whitewater spot in the vicinity of Altman Lake; why not camp at Smith River Campground while you're here at Altman Lake. Really good skiing awaits you at Big Powderhorn Mountain, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Dead Horse Lake. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting       dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Turtle River, and camping is available at Big 6 RV Resort and Campground. Altman Lake is a good spot of normal rain; most of the rain falls through August, and February is when it's the driest. The Newman Springs Ski Trail offers hiking at its best, and Drinkwine Creek is in the vicinity of Altman Lake and is always a pleasure to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Hurley Days Inn is a great location                  to get some rest, and skiing at Whitecap Mountain is one of those things you just should do. Dry warm beds await you at Budget Host Cloverland Motel Ironwood, and on a pleasant day you can visit Realty Lake, a swamp in close proximity to Altman Lake. This lake is so wonderful. For the period of the days of summer here at Altman Lake, high temperatures regularly reach the 70's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's.
