    What a nice lake Allen Lake is. An average amount of rain falls at Allen Lake; most of the rain falls through September, and the driest month of the year is February. Have a splendid hiking adventure along the Bearskin State Park Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Pine River offers some great whitewater; a brilliant close by hotel is Americinn - Merrill, Wi.
Camping at Northforest Campgrounds is always a tremendous
 
   experience, and good skiing awaits you at Granite Peak. And that's not all you can do here at Allen Lake. If you need a spot to stay Pine Ridge Inn is a pleasant choice; Wedlers Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop by. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Prairie River, and you'll meet a lot of people from Merrill here.
Summertime highs at Allen Lake generally tend to be in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. For the period
 
               of the winter highs are ordinarily in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Allen Lake are in the-10's. Allen Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Birkensee Resort is a delightful local campground, and while you're here, you could also stop at gorgeous Luecks Lake.

This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane....
i have lived and snowboarded in Colorado and Austria.
For the Midwest only Lutsen in Minn. can be compared!
The vertical keeps you challenged unlike the resorts in the U.P. and the rest of the Midwest! Only 3 hrs from Milwaukee!!!
love it if you are in the Midwest and can't head WEST!!!...
