Pecatonica River Frst Preserve

Large trees shape and shade the campsites. A boat launch for small boats and canoes, in the lower part of the preserve, provides access to the Pecatonica River. An interpretive booklet is available at the trail head to guide hikers along a 1 1/2 mile nature trail. An additional 8 miles of trail are available to hike at your pleasure. Campers, even on the busiest weekends, can be assured of finding a site in this remote campground, The campground is located four miles northeast of Pecatonica, offering easy access to activities at the Winnebago County Fairgrounds. The campground is open from mid April until mid November,weather permitting. There are 49 sites (4-50 amp and 45- 30 amp hookups), dump station, and horseshoe pits. No firewood may be brought into the campground as a result of the Emerald Ash Borer. Firewood can be purchased at the campground.
