     If you need a spot to stay Americinn - Merrill, Wi is a nice choice, and if you came to camp Council Grounds State Park is a pleasant place to do that. During the warm days of summer at Ackerman Lake highs are usually in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are typically in the 10's while Ackerman Lake overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the-10's. Dry warm beds await you at  
   Pine Ridge Inn; camping at Birkensee Resort is always a wonderful experience.
The yearly precipitation here at Ackerman Lake is about average; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is February. If you fancy the outdoors, you'll fancy Ackerman Lake. In case you don’t mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Pine River. Lakes are wonderful; Knight Lake is a lake that's near Ackerman
 
               Lake. This lake is so wonderful. This is a pleasant vicinity for folks who like lakes. Nelson Lake is a lake in the neighborhood, and Ackerman Lake is not far at all from Merrill.
Prairie River is a splendid whitewater spot near Ackerman Lake, and what would winter be without some skiing at Granite Peak.

This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane....

For the Midwest only Lutsen in Minn. can be compared!
The vertical keeps you challenged unlike the resorts in the U.P. and the rest of the Midwest! Only 3 hrs from Milwaukee!!!
love it if you are in the Midwest and can't head WEST!!!...
