Go to 2 Reservoir if you want to go to a nice lake. Why not camp at Eagle Cave Natural Park while you're here at 2 Reservoir; as expected Higgins Creek flows through this vicinity. 2 Reservoir gets a common amount of rainfall; most of the rain falls through July, and the driest of the months is January. While staying at 2 Reservoir you could always look at Coulter Hollow.
