In addition to the tubing park, Nordic Mountain continues to undergo many changes and improvements-one of the biggest in snowmaking. Nordic Mountain can make snow on 100% of its terrain including the tubing park. With the improvements in snowmaking technology, they can produce higher quality snow and do so in warmer temperatures. In the past few years Nordic Mountain has more than doubled its snowmaking capacity. The goal is to open earlier, close later, and remain open on marginal winter days. One of the biggest projects to improve snowmaking at Nordic Mountain will serve a dual purpose. The addition of a 10 million gallon snowmaking pond will not only supply more cold water for snowmaking, but in the summer of 2009 is scheduled to be made into the second wakeboard winch park in the country. Operations Camp Fairwood is a year-round ministry with eight weeks of summer camp for youth and families and about 32 retreats throughout the year. There are two full-time employees of the Camp, the director and maintenance manager. During the summer we hire about 30 staff to run our program. Facilities There are 27 buildings on the camp grounds. Nine cabins are used year-round and sleep about 10 people each. Nine additional cabins are available for summer use and sleep 10 people each. Our most functional and widely used building is our dining hall which can seat 175 people. Our chapel is uniquely located in the loft of a barn and can also seat 175 people.
