 | 14 miles away ...water from the showers which flooded the floors. There were two sets of toilets and showers, one set was at the main building that housed a bar (which served great fish fries and has its own micro-brewery), game room, and office. The upper bath site had no hot water all weekend. It has a separate bathroom with shower for females, and apparently for males too, but it appeared to be nailed shut. They also have a swimming pool, but it was too early in the season to be cleaned and open.
Detractors seemed to be a lack of enforcing the quiet hours. Parties with music blaring, singing and yelling went on until 3 a. M. Some noise was from the weedend campers next to us, and some noise was from the permanent site owners, which also included blowing on a plastic trumpet, not only during the day, but into the night. Dogs were left barking alone on the site next to us while the owners were at the bar or at the lake. No one was in the office in regular hours, making it impossible to replenish the ice in our coolers until the next day. Office was closed at six pm and was still not open at 1... |

 | 16 miles away Some friends and I went Kayaking on the Yellow River on April 19th, 08 and were suprised at the stage of rapids that we paddled. The water is fast, deep and unforgiving. Be careful!!! Make sure you wear helmets, take tow ropes and be prepared to get wet!!!... |

 | 28 miles away 5 PHOTOS This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane.... i have lived and snowboarded in Colorado and Austria. For the Midwest only Lutsen in Minn. can be compared! The vertical keeps you challenged unlike the resorts in the U.P. and the rest of the Midwest! Only 3 hrs from Milwaukee!!! love it if you are in the Midwest and can't head WEST!!!... |
