User input for Wynoochee Lake, Olympic Mountains, Grays Harbor County, Washington:
Cindi Hawley: I have been camping at this lake with my dad since I was a little girl. Now my husband and I take our little girls so they can enjoy the beauty of the lake and mountains for themselves. We have to pass on an appreciation of the outdoors to the next generation.
CHUCK K: While attending James Lick HS in the 50s we used to sneak up there after school and fish until dark. We came home many times with large stringers of fat blue gills and small mouth black bass.I have never had a better fishing experience since those days and have always missed it. We quit going up there after we turned 18 years old for fear of getting in trouble.
Seth Johnson: This is the greatest place in the world i have been coming here since i was little!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jessica: This is the best lake in Washington by far! My husband and I have been coming here for the last fourteen years and love it!!!

Dam. Wynoochee Lake is a beautiful lake in the Olympic Mountains. Some nearby water includes Big Creek, and there's whitewater on Wynoochee River for all you adrenaline people. All year is a fine time in the Olympic Mountains
if you have a thing about the outdoors. At Wynoochee Lake you always meet someone from Aberdeen; there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Big Creek. Wynoochee Lake is a reasonably wet place frequently with lots of rain; the month
of December is the wettest with most of the rain; July meanwhile is the driest month. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Olympic Mountains.

Coho Campground
 | Nice. Good car-camping family place. (…)...As of August 2008, Wynoochee Valley Road (NFD 22) is closed for 13 miles starting at the intersection with Cougar-Smith north to Camp Grisdale every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We got stuck at the intersection for 3? hours on Thursday, August 7, as the road didn't open until 6:30 p.m. Rumor is that the paving work and road closures will continue for the next two years....WHEN YOU TAKE THE HIKE AROUND THE LAKE BE SURE YOU TAKE WATER AND FOOD. IT'S A BEAUTIFUL, BUT 12 MILES AND 6 HRS. TO COMPLETE. ENJOY !!!... |

Wynoochee Falls Campground
 | Nothing is left except overgrown roads and a couple of holes where there used to be an outhouse.
The falls are picturesque and were featured in a 1961 movie ''Ring of Fire''
Yes the Elwha River trail is only 18 miles away but that is by trail straight through the heart of the Olympic Mtns. And park. ...Wynoochee Falls campground has been closed and the campground sign, firepits, restroom and tables removed. You?ll have to drive about 15 miles of gravel road to get here. There is a rock pedestal with a missing sign along the Wynoochee road 4 miles NE of the lake near the end of the road. This marks the parking area and access trail down to the falls. The ? mile trail is interrupted with large ditches to discourage access and camping. The waterfall is only about 100 feet high, (maybe less) but very picturesque, with a large clear basin at its base and an outlet scoured through granite rocks.... |
