A good deal of rainfall falls at Lake West; December is when you get the most rain here, and July is the month with the least moisture. Summertime highs at Lake West generally tend to be in the 70's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are generally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Lake West are in the 30's. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the Olympic Mountains. West Lake Dam is a beautiful location next to Lake West, and lakes are such serene places, why not stop at Boundary Lakes. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun stuff at Lake West. Why not camp at Brown Creek Campground since you're here at Lake West, and playing golf is lots of fun at Lake Cushman Golf Course. So much fun stuff | |

in the Olympic Mountains, just unbelievable. Grisdale Hill is easy to spot from Lake West, and you can run the rapids of Vance Creek.
West Lake is a wonderful lake in close proximity to Lake West, and there are plenty of people
from Shelton here. This lake is so wonderful. A great nearby hotel is Alderbrook Resort and Spa. Lake West is a beautiful lake in the Olympic Mountains.
This lake is so wonderful. Lake Cushman Resort is a good local campground; do visit Dalby Creek since you're here at Lake West.

It's been about 6yrs. since I was last at upper Elk Lake,It was my most favorite place to camp. If you were lucky, and got the only camp site on the lake,the lake was yours. The water was so crystal clear, you could almost see the bottom. The fishing was't bad either. There are plenty of trails and creeks to explore.Including Jefferson creek, which will lead you to lower Elk Lake. My children loved this spot as much as I. There was also a rope swing on the other side of the lake.It was heaven. My youngest daughter traveled back to the lake this summer (2008). She says the lake is destroyed, with water plants and logs,she says the water is no longer clear. This makes me sad, I may just have to plan a trip to see for myself.... |

Wynoochee Falls Campground

Nothing is left except overgrown roads and a couple of holes where there used to be an outhouse.
The falls are picturesque and were featured in a 1961 movie ''Ring of Fire''
Yes the Elwha River trail is only 18 miles away but that is by trail straight through the heart of the Olympic Mtns. And park.
...Wynoochee Falls campground has been closed and the campground sign, firepits, restroom and tables removed. You?ll have to drive about 15 miles of gravel road to get here. There is a rock pedestal with a missing sign along the Wynoochee road 4 miles NE of the lake near the end of the road. This marks the parking area and access trail down to the falls. The ? mile trail is interrupted with large ditches to discourage access and camping. The waterfall is only about 100 feet high, (maybe less) but very picturesque, with a large clear basin at its base and an outlet scoured through granite rocks.... |
